Deer run over every year for the last four years

Reported via desktop in the Dead Animal category anonymously at 14:50, Thursday 17 April 2025

Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7449554.

Dear Northumberland County Council Roads Department I have been living in the West Allen Valley for the last 13 years and over this time have seen a number of male and female deer which have been killed on the road. At least one deer in each of the last four years has been run over. Each time it has been in the same location, between the property called 'Ringing Hills' and Hartley Cleugh Farm, about a mile North of Carrshield on the road to Allendale. There are trees either side of the road at this point and clearly there is a route that deer use. I am writing to ask whether you could put up a deer warning sign, which could help prevent more deer deaths, and to prevent accidents that could be lethal for motorists. The incline on this road is quite steep, and Southbound traffic can be very fast, so a warning sign North of Hartley Cleugh and another level with South View on the Northbound side could help to alleviate these deaths. Thank you Kind regards
