Blocked Stile on footpath as shown on on the definitive rights of way map from this position
Reported via mobile in the Obstruction (Not Vegetation) category by Ron Clarke at 09:45, Thursday 27 March 2025
Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7344394.
Stile or field boundary crossing point at map reference DD 54.90062N -2.242228W has been made impassable with there being no safe passing provision together with the erection of a continuous new wood post and wire fence immediately behind. Can only be described as a hazardous obstacle to personal safety if crossing at this specific location along this right of way was to be attempted by anyone.. - So much for walking to maintain health! Had to turn back.

There was no stile where there should have been one - hence no photo taken. This is a passing place on a walking route published within an AA published walks book for Northumberland and Durham. Pity anyone else who travels here from afar to do this walk. Perhaps you should send one of your council workers to try out the route for themselves and report back. The stile before this one that would give an alternative route as shown on your definitive map (but not shown as a right of way on OS maps) is also damaged as the long wooden steps structure leading up to it is damaged and has been moved several metres away to the right of the stile. A scramble is needed instead in order to get up to the stile. Your operative/s if they went would surely see this for themselves.
