Approximately 50m of road with numerous potholes. Under road culvert blocked and east ditch floods the road concealing potholes. Flood water freezes and road becomes an ice rink. Regular pothole repair negated by washing action of surface water and freezing action. Ditches and culvert need to be reinstated. Road much busier whilst the Whitfield/Allendale has long term closure.

    Not Fixed. The potholes at the time were filled but this only addressed the symptom. The ditch to the east of the road is blocked and overgrown for about 50m. As a result all storm water from the ditch location flows onto the road. The repairers dug a couple of escape channels on the west of the road to release accumulated water. However the storm water still floods the road and does not disperse before freezing over. The east site ditch needs to be reinstated and the under-road culvert at the lowest point needs to be unblocked to allow full flow. As shown on the map this is the underpass for the Gatehouse Burn. This not hand dig solution, it requires an hours work by a mechanical excavator. Already new potholes have occurred by the constant presence of water and the washing action of traffic. This has recently become worse as there has been significantly more traffic because of the long term closure of the Whitfield to Allendale Road.
