Terrible Road condition caused accident to a child
Reported via mobile in the Surface Condition category anonymously at 22:29, Tuesday 24 September 2024
Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6512151.
At 8.25am 24 September 2024 I witnessed a child of around 3 years old riding her three wheel scooter along Kenmore Road Swarland, approaching the junction with Nelson Drive when the scooter tipped over as a result of the poor road surface causing the child to fall onto the wet gravel. Her father who was walking alongside her with his two other you g children picked her up and carried her home. The child was covered in gravel and wet down one side and was very upset and crying. She appeared to have hurt herself. This road surface has been reported previously as dangerous and the council are well aware of its poor condition with numerous inspections and reports highlighting this. This incident to totally unacceptable and was easily avoided if the council officials, who are completely aware of the road condition, had carried out proper repairs. I consider these people and the council leadership to be vicariously liable for this incident.
