Blocked drain
Reported via mobile in the Blocked - Flooding of Road/Path category anonymously at 19:50, Sun 1 September 2024
Sent to Northumberland County Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6423671.
This drain is on the east side of the subway. Owing to the amount of silt and dirt in the drain, this clearly shows a lack of general maintenance by the council.
This is not acceptable and shows a total lack of professionalism. Would the council be so keen if I took the same attitude paying my council tax? The answer would be no, you would take me to court. Perhaps ‘us tax payers’ should go on strike until services improve.

After reporting this issue, your response was it was not critical. I was more than surprised to see that it had been ‘fixed’. I have taken a look at the council’s handy work and I was less than impressed. It looks as if the silt has been removed from the drain and left on the path. Looking down into the drain, silt is still present and no sign of water as I assume a trap is built into it.
I will be forwarding this to my local councillor.
